About This Course

Skill Tech Audio Accredited DJ Course is designed for aspiring DJs looking to master the art of mixing, beat-matching, and creating smooth transitions. Learn about the DJ equipment, software, and music theory essentials, while building hands-on skills in live performance. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your craft, our accredited training course will help you take your DJing to the next level!

During your 3 hour session you will have the essential theories for one hour, followed by 2 hours of solid DJ practise with your expert DJ as a guide on the side. You will have your own DJ controller to mix on. Skill Tech Audio students also get 10% Discount with Dr Head and achieve academic status for more discounts with almost all audio software.

  • Anyone interested in live performance techniques and building a DJ set.

Knowledge & Skills

Session 1:

  • Explain what Signal Flow is and why it's important for DJs
  • Use of diagrams to illustrate the path of the audio signal through different equipment.
  • 2 hours DJ practise

Session 2:

  • Introduce the basic equipment: Turntables/CDJS/Controllers, mixer, and speakers.
  • Discuss the role of each equipment in the signal flow
  • 2 hours DJ practise

Session 3:

  • Demonstrate how to connect each piece of equipment (using cables like RCA, XLR, Phono vs Line Input, etc
  • 2 hours DJ practise

Session 4:

  • Explain the mixer's role in detail, including channels, EQ, crossfader, and gain controls.
  • Show how to adjust levels and use EQ to blend tracks smoothly.
  • 2 hours DJ practise

Session 5:

  • Teach how to perform a sound check, setting proper levels to avoid distortion.
  • Cover basic troubleshooting, like identifying and fixing issues in the signal path.
  • 2 hours DJ practise

Session 6:

  • Let students set up the equipment themselves, under supervision.
  • Provide hands-on practice with mixing tracks, adjusting levels, and using mixer controls.
  • 2 hours DJ practise

Session 7:

  • If applicable, show how to connect a recording device and record a DJ set.
  • Discuss recording levels and formats.
  • 2 hours DJ practise

After the course, can I get a job?

If you're a beginner, after a 6-week course, you'll unlikely find a job. However, our live sound engineer course has a 100% success rate in that all students who have taken it (written Dec 2024)  are now audio practitioners, either full-time, busy freelance, or on long-term contracts.

How much do sound engineers earn?

In the UAE and MENA, Freelance sound engineers can earn between AED500 and AED3500 per day; here's a guide for daily rates from 2024.

A1 Operators- AED 2250+
System Tech AED 3500+

Full-time sound engineers, depending on experience, can earn monthly
AED3000 for freshers up to 18,000 or more.
